If you need to crunch a website video down to a usable size to use as a web background or as a showcase on your homepage, I use HandBrake. Ideally, you don’t want the video to be any larger than 10mb, ideally it’ll be 5mb or under.
Shrink Video to Use on Web using HandBrake
Step 1 – If possible, reduce your video from 1080p to 720p
Step 2 – A good starting point in HandBrake is the Fast 720p30 preset
Step 3 – Output should be MP4 format, H.264 video
Step 4 – If you really need to shrink, change RF from 19 to 23 or even 26
Step 5 – Output video, change settings above as needed
