If you want to tidy up your WordPress URLs by removing the tag or category links from showing in your WordPress permalink, it’s now super easy.
Default WordPress Categories and Tag Permalinks
Your default category URL / permalink will show – yourwebsite.com/category/blog
Your default tag URL / permalink will show – yourwebsite.com/tag/sounds
After we make the changes below it will remove the Category and Tag links and display:
yourwebsite.com/blog
yourwebsite.com/sounds
Process to remove Tag and Category links from the WordPress Permalink
1. Log into your WordPress Dashboard
2. Go down to Settings – select Permalink
3. Select Custom Structure – paste /%category%/%postname%/
4. Under Optional – Category base, put a dot(.)
5. Under Optional – Tag base, put a dot(.)
6. Save Changes – Job done!
