If you want to add an image background to text in Photoshop, so the image is inside the text the easiest way is to create a clipping path. Here are the steps I use below.
1. In Photoshop you need to create two layers, one containing your text, and the other containing the image you’d like to use as a background for your text
2. The Image layer needs to be positioned directly above the Text layer.
3. With the Image layer selected use Control-Alt and G (Windows) or Command-Option and G (Mac)
4. All going well the two layers are now linked and your image is now inside your text!
