Achievement number one for January 1st 2025 will be posting my New Year’s Resolutions! – this is something I’ve not managed for the last couple of years so perhaps this puts me off to a good start… or could it be it’s downhill all the way from here!? – Stay positive Mr Pedley, after all it’s New Year’s Eve and tomorrow is the beginning of a brand new shiny new year, full of possibilities and opportunities.
New Year’s Resolutions 2025!
As usual, these are in no particular order, but almost all of these are old friends that appear every year…
Pedley Music
2024 has actually been a great year creatively for the music as I’ve been working again with Nina on new songs for our Gorgeous Creatures project. This year (2025!) we’re hoping to get some of our new musical babies out there into the big wide world and off my hard drive. We’re also looking at creating some music videos to help them on their way.
Alongside Gorgeous Creatures, I’m hoping to push ahead with my personal 120 Project and work on some new electronic instrumental tracks. I’ve got a whole bunch of half-finished ideas and some existing book video music that I’d love to develop and finish off.
In terms of development I’d like to learn more about mixing and mastering, improve my musical work flow, and get better at organising my sample and sound library. Basically working smarter and not harder!
The Sci-Fi Blogs
I’ve been neglecting these a bit as my day job started swallowing up almost all my spare time! – but I’ve recently got my blogging mojo back and I have some plans for lots of new content, including artist video features, art book reviews, and possibly some retro sci-fi art by classic artists. Of course anything with video is also a good excuse to add some Pedley music.
Web Design (The Day Job)
I need to give our Pedleyonline website some serious TLC this year, it’s been years and years since we last did any work on our site. The web and design portfolio is massively out of date and our services pages could all do with updating. I shouldn’t grumble, we’ve been super busy in 2024, but I think it’s so important we create the right impression online, especially for a web design business. So one of my early New Year missions will be a Pedleyonline website revamp!
Learning New Stuff
This is my favourite thing in the world, but sadly the one thing that often never happens – if only we could have an 8 day week… Well it doesn’t hurt to make a another list (it’s really only me that reads this anyway). So the things I’d like to learn more about in 2025 are: AI and using it for web design, web animation and CSS, creating video, video editing in Adobe Premiere, and using my graphics tablet. That’ll do for now.
Personal Log – New Year Resolutions
1. Start to drive again! – previously I’ve put ‘drive more’, but unfortunately I’ve let things slip so bad that I’ve not driven at all. So starting to drive again would be a good place to start.
2. Sort my eyeballs out – my eyesight is absolutely shocking – I desperately need to sort out my contact lenses and glasses. I keep putting it off, so I need to book an appointment at Specsavers to get them sorted!
3. Get healthy – I realise my lifestyle is almost completely sedentary, I’m either sat at my desk, sat at my keyboard or sat in front of the telly. In 2025 I’m going to drink less wine, do more exercise and get fitter!.
4. Change my LinkedIn photo! – It’s so old, it has Windows XP in the background!
5. Speak to my friends! – Starting from now, I’m going to try and be better at keeping in touch.
6. Spend more time with my lovely family – I have to accept this may include playing board games, trampolining, and doing more jobs around the house.
I think that concludes my New Year’s Resolutions for 2025. Looking at the list above it’s probably near on impossible to do everything, but I’ll do my very best! – Happy New Year to everyone and especially anyone who read this xxx
