We’ll we’re into March and I’m pleased to report I can now cross off my list ‘learning to Drive!’ I’ve also made a pretty good start to the year with the music and finished a couple of new tracks. I say finished, these are still just musical ideas / sketches that have a start, middle and an ending – like my driving, they are still a little rough around the edges. The important thing is I’m bringing them to a semi-conclusion so I can get people to listen to them. I’ve also been working on the 120 Project website and created channels on Spotify and Apple Music to make my music more available. I’m not 100% happy with the tracks so far, but hopefully they will continue to improve and I may go back and develop some of these into the finished (probably over-worked) article.
My plan for the coming months (music and 120 Project) is to continue creating short instrumentals for the book videos on this-is-cool.co.uk. This is brilliant as it’s forcing me to work quickly, not be too precious and most importantly experiment and generate new ideas. I’ll then aim to release at least one extended instrumental on Spotify, Soundcloud and Apple Music each Month. I also need to organise my songs, sounds and samples – keep improving and fine tuning my workflow. I also need to continue learning the music software and hardware to get better at making the music and manipulating the sounds. It helps me to write this stuff down, though I’m guessing it’s only me who reads this stuff…
On a semi-music related topic I’m also teaching myself to use Adobe After Effects. The plan is to create simple motion effect videos to accompany my music and branch out onto YouTube and Vimeo. The hope is this will also have a commercial use (once I can use it properly) to offer motion graphics and online video to our web customers.
